MQ-9 Carbon Monoxide & Combustible Gas Sensor Module
The MQ-9 Gas Sensor Module is a versatile and powerful device capable of detecting two major threats: toxic Carbon Monoxide and flammable combustible gases. Like other sensors in the MQ series, it uses a Tin Dioxide (SnO2) sensitive layer. The MQ-9 operates on a unique high and low temperature cycle. It detects Carbon Monoxide at a low temperature (heated by 1.5V) and detects combustible gases like methane and propane at a high temperature (heated by 5.0V). This dual-detection capability makes it an efficient, space-saving choice for multi-gas monitoring. The module simplifies integration with a user-friendly board that provides both an analog output for measuring gas concentrations and a digital output with an adjustable threshold for simple go/no-go detection.
Key Features:
Dual Gas Detection: Uniquely capable of detecting both Carbon Monoxide (CO) and combustible gases (Methane, LPG, Propane).
High Sensitivity: Offers excellent sensitivity across its detection range for both types of gases.
Dual Output Signal: Equipped with both an analog output for precise measurements and a digital output for easy integration into alarm systems.
Adjustable Sensitivity: An onboard potentiometer allows for easy calibration of the digital output trigger threshold.
Wide Range of Applications: Suitable for both domestic and industrial use where both CO and combustible gas are a risk.
Technical Specifications:
Operating Voltage: 5V DC
Detection Gases: Carbon Monoxide (CO), Methane (CH4), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
Detection Range (CO): 10 to 1000 ppm
Detection Range (Combustible Gas): 100 to 10,000 ppm

Common Applications:
Combined Gas Alarms: Ideal for creating home safety devices that warn against both CO poisoning and explosive gas leaks.
Industrial Safety Systems: Monitor air quality in factories, mines, and workshops where multiple gas threats exist.
Air Quality Monitoring: Deploy in systems that need to track both pollution (CO) and safety hazards (combustible gases).
Ventilation Control Systems: Trigger fans or safety shutoffs in garages, boiler rooms, and tunnels.
Advanced Educational Projects: An excellent component for teaching students about complex sensor operation and multi-variable environmental monitoring.
Extra Description

1 x MQ-9 Carbon Monoxide & Combustible Gas Sensor Module
Why Choose This MQ-9 Gas Sensor? At Hitech Electronics & Hardware, we provide components that offer maximum utility and reliability. The MQ-9 sensor is a prime example, combining the functionality of two sensors into one compact and affordable module. Trust in our quality components to build robust and effective safety and monitoring systems.
Pro Tip: To get the most out of the MQ-9, it's important to understand its high/low temperature cycle. Your microcontroller code should be written to read the sensor's output at the correct time in the cycle to differentiate between CO and combustible gas readings. Consult the datasheet for the recommended heating and reading intervals.
